Kitchen renovation and remodeling in Manhattan
New layouts, cabinets, stone, lighting and appliances for Manhattan apartments and New York homes, with the co-op or condo paperwork handled for you.
5.0 from 97 Google reviewsIn short
A kitchen renovation in a New York apartment is shaped by the building: whether the board allows the sink or range to move, whether gas work needs a licensed plumber and a DOB filing, and when the freight elevator is available. MCG Corp checks those limits at the estimate, so the design you approve is one the building will approve too.
Kitchen renovation with MCG Corp
Some kitchens need new doors and a countertop. Others need the wall to the living room gone, the plumbing rerouted and the electrical brought up to carry modern appliances. We do both, and we tell you honestly which one your kitchen needs.
In co-ops and condos the first question is not cabinets, it is what the building allows. Many buildings will not let a kitchen move over a neighbor’s bedroom below, a rule usually called wet-over-dry. We check the alteration agreement and the floor below before the layout is final.
What this covers
- Full kitchen gut renovations and layout changes
- Cabinet installation, refacing and custom millwork
- Quartz, marble and granite countertops and backsplashes
- Plumbing and gas work by licensed trades
- Electrical upgrades, lighting and appliance circuits
- Flooring, tile, plaster and painting
What New York adds to the job
Wet-over-dry rules
Many co-ops and condos prohibit placing a kitchen or bathroom over a neighbor’s dry living space. Moving the sink a few feet can be fine; moving the kitchen across the apartment often is not.
Gas means licensed work
Any change to gas piping for a range or cooktop is done by a licensed master plumber and is inspected. We schedule it so the inspection does not hold up the rest of the job.
Building logistics
Cabinets and stone come up the freight elevator in the windows your building allows, and debris goes out the same way. We book those slots, not you.

-
Walkthrough and estimate
Billy visits, measures and asks what you want the space to do. You receive an itemized written estimate, not a ballpark.

Work runs inside your building’s hours with common areas protected and the site cleaned daily. You get updates without having to chase them.
-
Inspections and walkthrough
Required inspections are passed, the punch list is closed with you, and the building receives its close-out paperwork.
What clients wrote on Google
5.0 from 97 Google reviewsI couldn't be happier with the full kitchen renovation done by Billy and his crew! Professional, punctual, and incredibly skilled. They paid close attention to every detail, delivered exactly what I envisioned, on time and within budget.
They come in, work incredibly hard, are respectful, not loud, and clean up beautifully after themselves. We were able to stay in the back of our apartment while they worked on the kitchen. It was painless. We absolutely love our kitchen.
MCG did a great job renovating our kitchen and installing custom closet systems. The job began and ended on time with minimal disruption. The crew are neat, clean, and very easy to work with.
Kitchen renovation questions
How long does a kitchen renovation take in NYC?
The building work for a full kitchen typically runs several weeks. Board approval and any DOB filing come before that and can take longer than the construction itself, which is why we start the paperwork the week you sign.
Can I move my kitchen in a co-op?
Sometimes. Most buildings restrict kitchens and bathrooms from sitting over a neighbor’s living space below. Small moves within the existing footprint are usually approved; moving the kitchen to a new room usually is not. We check your building’s rules before you commit to a layout.
Do I need a permit for a kitchen remodel in NYC?
Replacing cabinets and counters in place generally does not need a DOB filing. Moving plumbing or gas, removing walls or adding circuits generally does, with plumbing and gas work done by a licensed master plumber.
